What does our process look like?

Every campaign starts with a simple conversation, so we begin by reviewing the advert and what accessibility requirements need to be met. From there, we can advise on captions, audio description, production and compliance considerations.

We take a consultative-led approach and aim to help all our clients understand requirements (rather than expecting them to have all the answers from day one!). We also regularly support clients with additional guidance, from recommending diverse focus groups to whether warnings are needed for flashing effects.

To reduce disruption to your existing process, we would work within your existing workflows, whether your ads are managed in-house, through an agency or via a media platform.

Once approved, all accessibility assets are delivered in the required formats and specifications for broadcast.

Getting your ads on air

Our job – no, our mission! – is to help you understand your options and create campaigns that reach more people. That's why every project comes with access to a team that genuinely care about accessibility and audience experience.

We're here to help whether you are creating your first accessible advert or managing large-scale campaigns across multiple channels. And as accessibility, in our view, isn't always all or nothing, we help clients find the approach that works best for them and their delivery requirements.

We also work closely with advertising platforms, including being the accessibility partner for Cape.io, so can help integrate directly into existing workflows and approval processes. We will prep and deliver assets into required formats, including standard files or embedded deliverables.

Can you require all accessibility requirements for a single advert?

Yes! Many clients use us as a single accessibility partner for their advertising, such as UniLever and Cape.io (formerly Peach).

Can you work with adverting and media platforms?

Yes, we can work within existing advertising workflows, including partnering with platforms and media partners.

Are accessibility requirements the same across every broadcaster?

No, in fact, they can vary slightly between broadcasters and advertising channels. For this reason, we recommend accessibility planning should always take place alongside broadcast planning.

Can requirements differ between organisations

Yes, different broadcasters will also have their own technical specs.

For example, Channel 4 has publicly committed to increasing accessibility across advertising, including initiatives designed to encourage greater use of accessibility features in campaigns.

How do I know which accessibility services my advert needs?

Well, that's where we would come in and help.

But overall, the answer depends on where your advert will appear. Some campaigns may only require closed captions, while other may need audio description and British Sign Language.

What file formats can you deliver?

We can provide captions, voice overs and other accessibility assets in a range of platform-ready file formats.

  • Broadcast-ready files with embedded accessibility features
  • Burned-in subtitles
  • STL
  • SRT
  • SCC
  • XML
  • MCC
  • Audio description audio tracks

Note: the exact file formats required will depend on the broadcaster, platform and campaign specifications.

What production support do you offer?

Our team can support projects with consultation, script preparation, audio description script writing, voice over production, BSL integration, subtitle creation and more.

We also offer dedicated project management throughout delivery.

Do you provide post-production support?

Yes, we can offer post-production support across subtitle integration, captioning, audio-production and video editing support.

But to be very clear, we are not an advertising production company.

Do you offer quality assurance and technical checks?

Yes, accessibility assets are reviewed before delivery to help ensure suitability for the intended platform.

What kind of accessibility advice can you provide?

At the end of the day, accessibility is about more than production and file delivery. So, we regularly support clients with additional guidance.

This may include:

  • Recommending testing an ad with a diverse focus group
  • Whether content may be suitable for neurodiverse people
  • If warnings are needed for flashing or strobing effects
  • Caption readability and positioning on-screen
  • Audio clarity
  • Inclusive design considerations
