- Corporate & workplace: Meetings, interviews, onboarding and training sessions are more inclusive with ASL interpreters present.
- Legal & government services: Court hearings, police interviews, council meetings and public consultations often require ASL by law.

- Media & cultural spaces: ASL for theatre, broadcasts, online content, and museum tours helps expand audience participation.
Wherever communication matters, ASL interpreting ensures communities can engage fully and equally.
When ASL is essential (or strongly advised)
In the United States, there are many situations where providing American Sign Language (ASL) interpreting is required under law, or very strongly recommended to ensure inclusion and legal compliance.
International companies can also use ASL interpreting strategically to reach audiences.
- ADA – effective communication: Under Title II (state/local government services) and Title III (public accommodations and private businesses) of the Americans with Disabilities Act, entities must provide auxiliary aids and services — which include qualified sign language interpreters — when necessary to ensure effective communication with people who are D/deaf or hard of hearing.
- Healthcare & patient rights: Healthcare providers subject to federal law (e.g., those operating under Medicare/Medicaid, or under Section 1557 of the Affordable Care Act) may be required to arrange ASL interpretation so patients can give informed consent and fully understand diagnoses, treatment and their rights.
- Employment & workplace: Under the ADA, employees or applicants with hearing disabilities are entitled to reasonable accommodations. which may include ASL if they are ASL users.
- Public services & legal settings: Courts, government agencies, public meetings, law enforcement interactions etc., when interacting with D/deaf or hard of hearing people, must ensure communication is equally effective, which also means providing ASL interpreters.
- Advised for community events, company-wide town halls or public announcements.

What is ASL interpreting?
American Sign Language (ASL) interpreting is the process of translating spoken English into ASL — and vice versa — in real time. It ensures ASL users can fully access and participate in conversations, events and services.
Why is ASL interpreting important?
ASL interpreting promotes inclusion, prevents miscommunication, and helps organisations comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
When is ASL interpreting required by law?
In the US, ASL interpreting is often required in healthcare (under the Affordable Care Act and ADA), legal proceedings, workplaces (as a reasonable accommodation under the ADA), public services and education.
Do you provide ASL interpreting remotely as well as in person?
Yes! We offer both in-person ASL interpreting and video remote interpreting (VRI) to support flexible access across the US and beyond.
Are your ASL interpreters qualified?
Yes! All of our ASL interpreters are professionally trained and experienced. We carefully match interpreters to the needs of your event or sector.
Do you offer ASL video content for websites and media?
Yes! We can produce pre-recorded ASL translations for online platforms, customer information, training videos and marketing campaigns.
How are ASL interpreters displayed during an event?
Interpreters can be shown in a dedicated video window, picture-in-picture view, on a separate screen or on stage, depending on your format.
We’ll advise on the best setup for visibility and accessibility.
